Edmonson county is located in south central Kentucky. It was formed in 1825 from parts of Hart, Grayson, and Warren counties and named for Captain John Edmonson. The county seat is Brownsville. The population of the county in 1990 was 10,357.

Much of eastern Edmonson county lies within Mammoth Cave National Park.
