The Study does not offer any peer tutoring services over the summer. Services will resume beginning at the Fall 2017 semester. 


Academic Coaching

Mission: The goal of academic coaching is to provide supplemental support that focuses on learning strategies, life management skills, and enhancing student success at the University of Kentucky.

Individual Academic Coaching (IAC): A one-on-one appointment with a Graduate student that will cover a number of critical areas related to student success. First, students will complete the LASSI Learning Style Inventory prior to their appointment. Then, the appointment will focus on identifying the students’ strengths and weaknesses, goals for the semester, and finally collaborating on creating a clear and specific plan for the semester that includes a variety of adopting strategies related to study skills and participation in services both within and outside of Transformative Learning. Additionally, Graduate student coaches serve as a campus partner and liaison, referring students to appropriate services on campus such as advising, counseling, the disability resource center, career center, tutoring centers, etc.

  • No Show and Late Policy: Please arrive on time for your IAC appointment at your scheduled location. If you arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled start time of your appointment, it will be considered a “No Show”. If you receive 2 “No Shows” you will no longer be able to schedule an appointment in WCOnline; Canceling an appointment within 2 hours of the appointment start time also qualifies as a “No Show”. If you have received 2 “No Shows” and wish to schedule another appointment, please contact your advisor and ask them to email on your behalf. 

Peer Academic Coaching: Peer coaching is an opportunity for students to drop-in between designated hours to meet with an undergraduate academic coach and practice skills identified as needs in their IAC (i.e.: reading comprehension, time management, note taking, etc.), review recent or upcoming assignments/tests for suggestions on studying appropriately, or a general progress check-in. Coaches are trained to offer support related to study skills while encouraging students’ to become self-regulated learners. Students are encouraged to use this service regularly and build an ongoing connection with their peer coach as a key part of their semester plan outlined within their IAC.

Drop-In Hours at The Study North (Jewell Hall/Champions Court 1): Drop-in coaching will resume regular hours during the Fall 2017 semester.
