Financial Documents

In order to receive a Form I-20 from the Center for ESL, you or your sponsor must present the following documents to CESL:
- The Financial Certificate form
(available here in both PDF or View and Print versions)
- One of the following:
- A bank statement certifying that you have (or your sponsor has) $7140 per semester, in addition to the normal expenses needed by you and your family, to spend on your tuition, living costs, books, supplies, and personal expenses.
- If you are sponsored by a U.S. citizen, the sponsor may fill out Form I-134, Affidavit of Support. This may be found at http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms This form must be notarized.
- A copy of your sponsor's tax return from the previous year.
- If you have a sponsor who is providing room, board, and local transportation in Lexington, please ask that sponsor to write us a letter that gives his/her current address, telephone, and other contact information and that indicates exactly which things the sponsor will provide (room, meals, local transportation, etc.).
Note: We advise you to have TWO ORIGINAL COPIES of this financial documentation (or notarized copies), since you will need to give one copy to CESL so that we can issue the I-20 and another to the U.S. Embassy so that they can issue a student visa.
