Students

Creating an Account:

  • Go to http://www.turnitin.com
  • Click on the "user login" button.
  • Click on the "click here to get started" link.
  • Enter the "new user registration" information (e-mail address and password).
  • Enter your "personal information."
  • Click on the "login" button, identifying yourself as "student" as you enter your e-mail address and password.
  • Click on the "join new class" link.
  • Enter you new class information as provided by your instructor: account ID and enrollment password.
  • Click on the name of the class under "your classes."

Logging In:

  • Go to http://www.turnitin.com
  • Click on the "login" button, identifying yourself as "student" as you enter your e-mail address and password.

Submitting an Assignment:

  • To see a list of assignments for this class, click on the "assignments" link.
  • To submit a paper for this class, click on the "submit" link.
  • Enter the assignment information, providing the title and the assignment number.
  • Copy and paste your paper into the corresponding text boxes, as appropriate: main text, abstract, bibliography.
  • Note your "digital receipt ID."
  • When you are finished, click on the "log out" link.

Instructors

Creating an Account:

  • Go to http://www.turnitin.com/prenhall/
  • If you have never registered for Turnitin before, click on the "register" button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Enter your e-mail address and a pick a personal password that is at least six characters and that contains at least one number.
  • Fill out the appropriate fields with your information as prompted and click on "submit."
  • Once you are registered, go to http://www.turnitin.com/prenhall/ and click on "login" button at the bottom of the screen below the "register" button.
  • Enter your e-mail address, personal password, and the case-sensitive Prentice Hall access code provided by your local Prentice Hall representative (e.g. jQt-oTf-zM7) and click on "submit."

Adding a Class:

  • Click on the "add class" button.
  • Enter your class information, select an enrollment password for your class, and enter a class description.
  • Click on the "stats" link, noting the "class ID."
  • Give your students the "class ID" and "enrollment password" when you tell them about Turnitin.com.
  • When you are finished, click on the "log out" link.

Creating Assignments:

  • Click on the name of the class under "your classes."
  • Click on the "assignments" link.
  • Click on the "new assignments" button.
  • Enter the assignment information, providing a number, a title, a due date, a description, and any instructions.
  • When you are finished, click on the "log out" link.

Logging In:

  • Go to http://www.turnitin.com
  • Click on the "login" button, identifying yourself as "faculty" as you enter your e-mail address and password.
