Jairus is a PhD student with a variety of research interests. His MS research examined the multi-scale spatial re-imagination and cultural re-presentation of the small South Korea island of Jeju. Originally trained as a molecular biologist while simultaneously pursuing a degree in religious studies, Jairus is interested in the intersections between science, nature, and society. His dissertation work hopes to pull together diverse perspectives on the social construction and perfection of nature through genetic technology, restoration ecology, and a variety of other representational/material practices. Jairus also enjoys fermenting food and beverages as a form of dissent.
