Profile

I am a Kentucky native who moved to Lexington from Paducah to attend
college.  I completed undergraduate degrees in Spanish and Geography at UK
and I am currently working on a Masters degree in Human Geography.  My
thesis utilizes a Lefevbrian lens to examine the Lexington farmers market as
a space generated by overlapping social relations.  By studying these
overlapping relationships, I plan to determine both the role that the market
might play in a local food system and the obstacles that exist for such a
system in Lexington.  The model that I plan to use for a local food system
will be that advanced by the Community Farm Alliance, a state-wise
non-profit farm advocacy organization.

My other interests include international development, sustainability, the
nexus of academia and activism, the overthrow of violently exploitative
advanced capitalist socio-economic systems, and cooking.
