The
Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences offers graduate studies leading
to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geology. We have approximately 38 graduate students in our program (56% M.S. candidates, 44% Ph.D candidates). We are a mid-sized department at a flaghsip university and value our graduate students. Due to our smaller size, students get hands-on access to all of our equipment and many other resources across campus and tend not to get lost in the crowd as may happen at larger schools. We have engaged faculty who work closely with their students and value diversity. We provide a positive environment for graduate study and exceed the national average for female students (with 44% of our current students being female). We also encourage applications from non-traditional students.
