Jerry Weisenfluh’s research interests are in the area of coal geology, sedimentology, and basin analysis. Most of this research has been applied to problems of coal mining and exploration. Areas of expertise include coal-mine mapping, core logging systems, and borehole database management. He has been extensively involved in state and national coal- resource assessment programs.

In Jerry’s current position as head of KGS’s Geospatial Analysis section, he manages aspects of digital geologic mapping, geographic information systems and is collaborating with the U.S. Geological Survey on the North American Data Model prototype for storing geologic map information.
