This photo shows eolian sands in the backbeach of Sapelo Island, Georgia. In the upper portion of the photo, small eolian ripples are forming. The spiral whelk egg case is partially buried in the sand. Adhesion ripples are forming in the lower half of the picture where fresh eolian sand is blowing onto a damp surface. Wind direction for the adhesion ripples is from the right to the left (adhesion ripples grow into the wind). Scale is approximately 80cm across field of view.
