Brian's research interests are in the history of philosophy, especially German philosophy beginning with Kant, and in phenomenology. In axiological philosophy, he thinks phenomenology's approach to experience and meaning would be useful for re-examining the fact-value distinction and the relationship between meaning and values (moral, aesthetic, or otherwise).
