Shaunna Scott

| Professor Scott's interests centers upon social inequality, work, the politics of identity, and social movements in Appalachia and Northern Ireland. Dr. Scott's most recent work appears in Rural Sociology, Annual Review of Sociology, and Qualitative Sociology. Dr. Scott has also authored Two Sides to Everything: The Cultural Construction of Class Consciousness in Harlan Country, Kentucky.Dr. Scott is an affiliated faculty member with the University of Kentucky's Appalachian Studies, Social Theory Committee, and Women Studies. Dr Scott is currently writing an article on women in the peace movement in Northern Ireland and she is section editor on Families and Kinship for The Encyclopedia of Appalachia. Dr. Scott regularly teaches in the department's social inequalities, theory and methods curricula. Her courses include SOC 235 (Inequality in Society), SOC 335 (Women and Men in Society), SOC 534 (Sociology of Southern Appalachia), SOC 635 (Social Inequalities), SOC 651 (Classical Sociological Theory), SOC 682A (Qualitative Methods), and SOC 735 (Feminist Theory). | |
