decisions are announced by March 15. GRE
scores are required for admission. A
combined score of 1500 on the three components of the GRE (multiply the score
on the analytical exam component by 100) is expected. International students must take the TOEFL
examination, with a minimum score of 550
(213 on the computer-based test)

students who do not have the M.A. degree are first admitted to the M.A.
program, with later admission to the Ph.D. program contingent on successful
completion of the M.A. and upon recommendation of their M.A. advisory committee
