T. W. Lewis Scholarship Program

This spring, three of Kentucky's brightest high school seniors will be awarded $3,750 scholarships to the University of Kentucky from the T. W. Lewis Foundation. These scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership potential, and financial need.

The T. W. Lewis Foundation offers a University of Kentucky Scholarship Program, designed to assist outstanding Kentucky high school students in attending college and furthering their education. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership potential, and financial need. Recipients receive $3,750 per year in financial assistance for expenses during their freshman year, subject to minimum academic requirements. The awards are renewable for up to four years, providing all conditions for continuing awards are met.

Requirements

  • Open to Kentucky high school students.
  • Minimum SAT score of 1800 (M+CR+W), ACT score of 28.
  • Minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 (4-point scale).
  • Rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class academically.

Award Selection

Scholarship recipients will be selected on a competitive basis using a combination of criteria:

  • Academic performance
    Class rank, GPA, SAT, or ACT scores, and course difficulty.
  • Leadership potential
    Extracurricular activities, athletic involvement, and/or community service.
  • Financial need
    Successful candidates must demonstrate an unfulfilled financial need whereby this scholarship would create an opportunity that was otherwise not available. Students must complete and submit a FAFSA form by February 15, 2010 to be considered.

Applications must be received by the University of Kentucky, along with the admissions application, by February 15, 2010. Application packets for 2010 are now available.
