Thank you for your interest in scheduling a group tour at the University of Kentucky! 

If you wish to bring 10 or more students/visitors to campus for a visit, please review the following information carefully:

Group Tour Reservations:

• Group tours are available on specific days and times throughout the year and may be limited due to group size. 
• Requests for group tours are accepted three weeks-two months in advance on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Your group’s visit will consist of an admissions presentation (15 or 30 minutes) and campus tour (60 or 90 minutes).
• Your tour is not confirmed until you receive an email that includes tour date, time, location, and directions.  This email will be sent from the UK Visitor Center Director.

Group Tour Guidelines:

In order to offer a superior visit experience to your group, we require the following guidelines:

• Timely Arrival

Prior to your visit, you will receive an itinerary for the day. Please arrive on time. If you are running late, please contact the Visitor Center Main Desk at 859-257-3595 and provide the staff member with your group’s name and contact information and the expected time of arrival. In the event of a late arrival, some activities scheduled for your group visit may be canceled.

• Cancellation Notice

If you find it necessary to cancel your visit, please provide appropriate notification of this cancellation to the Visitor Center Director (859-257-7724) before the day of the scheduled visit.

• Chaperones

The UK Visitor Center requires one chaperone for every 10-12 students and/or guests. Chaperones must accompany the group on the 90-minute walking campus tour and are expected to monitor the behavior of each guest during the entire campus visit. Should a group arrive without adequate chaperones, some activities (including the campus tour) may be canceled.

• Weather

The campus visit will include a substantial amount of walking. Please encourage each student and/or guest to dress appropriately (comfortable clothing and shoes) and with the weather in mind (the walking tours continue, despite rain or snow, and each guest is expected to bring any weather gear they deem necessary--umbrellas, jackets, etc.).

• Campus Lunch

If your group would like to dine in one of our on-campus dining locations as part of the visit experience, please contact the Office of Dining Services to reserve this activity and arrange for payment.  The Office of Dining Services can be reached at 859-257-6161 or contactukdining@lsv.uky.edu

• Conduct

Please ensure your organization’s participants show respect to the university, its faculty, staff, and students during the campus visit. Failure to do so may result in early conclusion of the visit and may limit availability for future visits by your organization. 

• Film/Video

Students and/or guests are permitted to photograph the buildings and grounds of the university as part of the campus visit; however, permission must be gained from the Visitor Center Director, as well as the individual guide, before photos may be taken of the group tour guide or any staff members of the Visitor Center.  Videotaping of the UK Visitor Center tour guide, any portion of the tour, or the campus is strictly prohibited during the group visit. As all tour guides are University of Kentucky students (and the tour will include residential and study areas used by other UK students), all efforts must be made to respect the privacy and security of these students during the campus visit. No exceptions will be made.

• Group Tour Parking

Small vehicles (cars, trucks, small passenger vans) may use Parking Structure #5, next to Kennedy’s Bookstore, for the duration of the visit and parking tickets will be validated at the Visitor Center Main Desk. For large school or travel buses, however, parking is available at K-Lot, next to Commonwealth Stadium. Students may be dropped off and picked up by the bus driver at the Main Building for the visit (as the Visitor Center is located on the plaza level of this building) and additional maps will be available highlighting the location of K-Lot and the bus parking there. Please note: K-Lot is located about 20-25 minutes from the Main Building, so groups should not include the bus driver(s) as chaperones when planning the campus visit.
