The University of Kentucky takes great pride in the UK Police
Department, a fully accredited police department charged with serving
and protecting the University of Kentucky campus and its students,
faculty, staff and visitors. The University of Kentucky Police
Department has a patrol unit of 35 highly trained men and women, all of
whom graduated from the Department of Criminal Justice Training (police
academy) and meet all of Kentucky's police standards as established by
the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. The Department provides police
services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The UK Police Department was
awarded state accreditation by the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of
Police in January 2006.
