What to Do Next

Confirm Your Advising Conference (Freshmen deadline: May 1)

Confirming your Advising Conference is the official way to let UK know you plan to attend. You can confirm dates by logging on to myUK and selecting the date that works best for you. Your acceptance letter will include instructions on setting up your myUK account and include instructions confirming your Advising Conference.

For more information about your Advising Conference, visit the Advising Conference website.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND A TUITION DEPOSIT. UK does not require a tuition deposit. You will receive a bill after the semester begins. You'll learn all about tuition, fees, and payment options at your Advising Conference.

Apply for Housing and Choose a Dining Plan

If you plan to live on campus, you should apply for housing as soon as possible after you receive your acceptance letter. Applying for admission and applying for housing are two separate processes. Usually, beginning freshmen who apply for housing prior to May 1 can be reasonably sure that housing will be available when they enter school the following fall.

Start by visiting the Campus Housing Office site. You can download a housing application, learn about the different housing options, and find out about all the advantages that living on campus offers.

Do not forget to check out the Living-Learning Communities that UK Housing offers. UK currently offers eleven of these living areas in on-campus housing, including communities for fine arts majors, Honors students, German-language students, and students interested in civic engagement. The Living-Learning Communities at UK offer a great opportunity for students to live among and interact with other students who share their interests.

Cancellations and Refunds

Applicants must cancel the housing application in person, by fax, by letter, or by e-mail to the University Housing Assignment Office. Students who choose to cancel their Housing and Dining application will be charged:
  • No Charge for cancelling prior to May 1
  • $50 for cancelling by June 1
  • 20 percent of fall housing charges (Traditional Hall Rate) for cancelling by July 1
  • 25 percent of fall housing charges (Traditional Hall Rate) for cancelling by August 1
  • 50 percent of fall housing charges (Assigned Hall Rate) plus daily prorated usage for cancelling by September 1 - This rate also applies to students who apply for Housing and then never move in to Campus Housing (No Shows)
  • Full housing charges (Assigned Hall Rate) for cancelling after September 1

If you plan to live on campus, or if you wish to eat some of your meals on campus, you will find UK's Dining Services plans quite versatile. Students select from one of three dining accounts:
  • The Dining Plan is required for all students who live in a residence hall.
  • The Flex Account - all students are eligible to put money in a Flex Account, which allows students the flexibility to spend money at any UK Dining Services unit, except Starbucks©
  • The Plus Account is optional and extremely versatile.
