Grants/Scholarships

The University of Kentucky offers financial aid to outstanding UK students without regard to race, creed, sex, or religious preference. The scholarships below are coordinated by Adult Student Services, and awards are made to currently enrolled adult students and students enrolled nontraditionally who demonstrate the potential for superior academic performance.

Scholarship Programs for Adult Students for 2011-2012

Academic Excellence Scholarship
Part-time, undergraduate students ages 25 and over currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award. To be eligible, applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours and have a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. These scholarships are for two semesters or sessions, payable as $500 each semester or session. The deadline to submit the Academic Excellence Scholarship application for the fall 2011 semester is September 15, 2011.

Levis D. McCullers Undergraduate Scholarship
Undergraduate students ages 25 and over currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award. To be eligible, applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours and have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. This $400 scholarship is for the fall semester only. The deadline to submit the Levis D. McCullers Undergraduate Scholarship application for the fall 2011 semester is June 30, 2011.

McClinton Book Scholarship
Graduate or undergraduate students ages 25 and over, who are currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award.  To be eligible, applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours and have a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Preference is given to women. Scholarships for this program are awarded during the fall semester, payable as $300. The deadline to submit the McClinton Book Scholarship application for Fall 2011 is August 5, 2011.

Lexington Woman's Club Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate students ages 25 and over currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award.  To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of Fayette County and have a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA or higher at UK.  Preference is given to women. This scholarship covers full-tuition for the fall and spring semesters. The deadline to submit the Lexington Woman’s Club Scholarship application for the fall 2011 semester is July 21, 2011.

Suburban Woman's Club Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate students ages 25 and over, who are currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award.  To be eligible, applicants must have completed between 60 and 90 credit hours of course work and have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Preference is given to women. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded on a semester basis through this program. The deadline to submit the Suburban Woman’s Club Scholarship application for Fall 2011 is July 21, 2011.

UK Woman's Club Scholarship
Undergraduate students ages 25 and over, who are currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award. To be eligible, applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours and have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Preference is given to women. Scholarships covering tuition at the resident rate are awarded through this program. The deadline to submit the UK Woman’s Club Scholarship application for Fall 2011 is April 4, 2011.

Bluegrass Alliance for Women Legacy of Leadership Scholarship, $500 each
The Bluegrass Alliance for Women will offer $500 non-renewable scholarships to women who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and a commitment to volunteer service. The Legacy of Leadership Scholarship is available to female residents of any Bluegrass Areas Development District County (Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, or Woodford. The applicant must be either a currently enrolled full-time or part-time college student seeking scholarship funds or a non-traditional student attending
college for the first time or going back to college. Click here to apply.

Child Care Grant
The University of Kentucky Student Government Association offers a child care grant to UK students who have dependent child/children. The grant is a need-based award requiring that you submit FAFSA and tax forms and provide an estimate of your household monthly living expenses. Go Higher Grant
Kentucky’s Go Higher Grant gives adults age 24 or older up to $1,000 for one academic year when they enroll in a participating Kentucky college or university less than half-time. The award is a need based grant that covers tuition and a book allowance of $50 per credit hour. Click here for detailed information.

Nofflet D. Williams Scholarship, $500
A tuition scholarship of $500 will be awarded during the Fall semester to University of Kentucky part or full-time, undergraduate or graduate students.  Applicants must be students enrolled in an electronically delivered UK course (online, TV, compressed video, videotape, satellite, or electronic mail). P.E.O. Continuing Education Grant - up to $2,000
This grant, awarded in 2010 and 2011, is available to qualified undergraduate, adult women who are citizens of the United States or Canada. Applicants must have had a break from their educational progress of 24 consecutive months some time in their lives, and also be within two years of completing their course of study. Candidates must have and maintain the scholastic average required for graduation by their institution. The grant may not be used for study abroad. P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, up to $9,000
Educational Loan Fund (ELF), established in 1907, makes loans available to qualified women desiring higher education who are within two years of completing their course of study and are in need of financial assistance. The current maximum loan is $9,000 at 2 percent interest and is due six years from the date of issue. Interest is billed annually with principal payments to begin after graduation from the program for which the loan was granted. Candidates must be recommended by a local chapter of the P.E.O. UK Women’s Forum Board Educational Assistance Awards, $250
Awards of $250 will be granted to regular full-time employees currently enrolled in University of Kentucky classes to fund books and /or other materials, supplies, and fees related to their UK coursework. Click here for detailed information and application form.
