Why Become A Sponsor?

Over 36,000 youth across Kentucky participate in the 4-H Horse Program.  In addition to educational activities and horsemanship camps, youth participate in two major events at the state level.

May brings the State Special Events competition to Bowling Green at Western Kentucky University.  Youth get the opportunity to show off their skills in team penning classes.

The State 4-H Horse Contest takes place in June, bringing 400 youth to Lexington to participate in activities such as arts and crafts, public speaking, demonstrations, horse bowl, hippology, and horse judging.  Winners from these events will then go on to successfully represent Kentucky at National Competitions.

In July, the State 4-H Horse Show brings together over 800 qualifying 4-Hers who have excelled at county and district shows.  The Kentucky State 4-H Horse Show offers more than 120 classes in Walking/Racking, English, Hunter, and Western divisions to accommodate the equine diversity of the state.  The State Show also hosts events such as Stable Management and choreographed mounted Drill Team competitions.

The Kentucky State 4-H Horse Program is truly a family event which provides training of life skills, including responsibility, teamwork, organization, and communication to youth throughout the state.  In order to maintain these educational activities, financial support from the community is needed.
