About the New Website Design
In late 1995, the Department of Agricultural Economics put up it's first Website. Our use of the site has grown exponentially since then making management of the site more and more difficult. Additionally, technology standards as well as University policies and standards have changed. Our newest design attempts to solve the maintenance problems that developed over time with our original organization as well as to be easily accessible for everyone while following the University policies and standards.
In order to accomplish this, we wrote as many pages as possible to be HTML 4.1 Strict compliant and validated them with the W3C Validation Service. We have also worked diligently to make the pages meet the requirements of Section 508 (as tested by Watchfire's Bobby. By meeting Section 508 requirements, we hope the site will be easily accessible for those using alternative devices.
A special thanks to Greg Franseth and Chuck Ham in the University of Kentucky Public Relations Office for their willingness to look at the site and to see the things we were too close to see.
If you have any trouble finding or accessing any of the pages, please let us know so we can fix the problem and get you the information you need.
