About every 5 years, a new Farm Bill works it's way through the United States Congress. The bill deals with everything under the authority of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

- USDA Provides One-Time Extension of Deadline to Update Base Acres or Yield History for ARC/PLC Programs (February 27, 2015)
USDA today granted a one-month extension for producers making decisions on updating yield history and reallocating base acres, the first in a multiple-step process to sign up for Price Loss Coverage (PLC) or Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC), new commodity programs established in the 2014 Farm Bill. The initial deadline was February 27. The new deadline is March 31, the same deadline for making the one-time election to enroll in PLC or ARC for crop years 2014-2018. USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) has been working through implementation challenges in several states related to cover crops, software, yield history and other issues.

- The Margin Protection Program for Dairy in the 2014 Farm Bill (Agricultural Economics Extension Publication 2014-15). Kenny Burdine. (September 2014)
The Margin Protection Program for Dairy (MPP-Dairy) was authorized in the Food, Farm and Jobs Bill, aka "2014 Farm Bill". The new program was established in August 2014 and will run through December 31, 2018. The bill effectively repeals the Dairy Export Incentive Program and the Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC) program while establishing the new MPP-Dairy program and a Dairy Product Donation Program (DPDP). Producers are permitted to participate in the new program, or the previously existing LGM-Dairy program, but not both at the same time. The purpose of this publication is three-fold, (1) provide an overview of how MPP-Dairy works, (2) provide some historical perspective on how a similar program might have worked had it been available over the last several years, and (3) help frame the participation decision that dairy producers will make in the coming years.
