Many
department faculty are members of the graduate faculty in Sociology and
the department actively supports the Sociology specialty
within the Sociology graduate program. Sociology graduate students have a
wide range of opportunities to design innovative programs of study for the M.A.,
M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. All students receive core training in social theory and
research methods.
Graduate students have the option of combining work in Sociology with complementary training in other specialty areas within the
sociology graduate program: Crime, Law & Deviance; Families, Aging & Health;
Political Sociology & Social Movements; Social Inequalities; and Work,
Organizations & Economy. Students may also seek an Environmental Systems
Certification through the interdisciplinary Environmental Systems Program or
develop multi-disciplinary specializations in such related social sciences as
Agricultural Economics, Anthropology, and Educational Policy Studies and
Evaluation.
