Bruce joined the department as a Research Associate in 1980 and later became the department's System's Analyst.  Over the years, he has had a number of roles in the department including all aspects of IT, web authoring, methodological and statistical consulting, and multimedia production.  Today he serves the department, NLI, KECI, and NAAE in all these roles.

Bruce holds a B.S. in Psychology, M.S, in Marriage and the Family, and is ABD (indefinitely!) for a Ph.D. in Sociology. He has authored over 30 journal articles, presented over 50 papers at professional meetings, served on several HATCH projects, and was a private research consultant.  In the 80's he decided on a career change from a people profession to a "puter" profession.  Though no formal training in IT, Bruce has over 26 years of experience in the field.

In addition to his departmental responsibilities, he remains active as a Program Evaluation Consultant.  Recent works include the evaluation of the Science Roadmap for Agriculture for the Experiment Station Committee on Organization and Policy (ESCOP) and the evaluation of 2008 National Research Initiative (NRI) priorities for Experiment Stations.

Though his various responsibilities at the University have focused primarily on technical issues, his love and dedication for helping children has been realized through volunteer organizations. He has been active in the school systems; in various children's sports; in Scouting; and recently retired as the Director of Children of the Americas, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping indigent families in Guatemala receive medical treatment.

Bruce resides here in Lexington with his wife, Pamela. They have 1 son and 2 daughters.  Bruce's outside interests include woodworking & music composition.
