Dr. Kenneth Jones holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural education from North Carolina A & T State University. He received a Master’s and a Ph.D. degree in agricultural and extension education from The Pennsylvania State University in 1997 and 2004, respectively. His dissertation research focused on youth-adult relationships, with particular interest in the dynamics of community-based youth-adult partnerships. 

Dr. Jones joined the faculty of the University of Kentucky as an assistant professor in the Department of Community and Leadership Development in January 2005. He also has a joint appointment in the state 4-H office as an extension specialist, where his work includes providing resources for 4-H agents and other youth development professionals through trainings and publications. A former county extension agent, Ken’s research employs quantitative and qualitative methods that aim to address specific issues affecting youth-serving practitioners. His research interests include assessing youth-adult relationships within community contexts, understanding the role of youth-adult partnerships in nurturing youth leadership, positive youth development, and theoretical approaches to community youth development.  In 2003, he was selected to serve as a Fellow at the Forum for Youth Investment in Washington, DC.
