Tracy Kitchel started as an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education on July 1, 2005.  His current appointment is 75% teaching and 25% research.  He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Education from The Ohio State University and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. 


In the fall 2006 semester, Dr. Kitchel will teach AED/FCS 586 (Methods in Teaching Career and Technical Education) and AED/CLD/FCS 682 (Research Methods).  In the spring 2007 semester, he will supervise student teachers and teach a graduate-level course.  Overall, his research deals with teaching and learning.  In particular, his research areas are split between 1) teacher transition into the profession (student teaching to beginning years) and 2) higher education in colleges of agriculture. 

Dr. Kitchel has won numerous teaching and research awards.  While at the University of Missouri-Columbia, he was named one of the top 2 graduate teaching assistants on campus in 2005 and was a High Flyer Teacher in the College of Education for his 3 years there.  In research, Dr. Kitchel co-authored a paper that was named the 2006 E. B. Knight Outstanding Journal Article Award for the NACTA Journal.  He has also placed and won several Outstanding Paper Presentation awards at American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE) research conferences.  Most recently, he was awarded Honorary Membership by the UK Agricultural Education Society.
