My background and training was originally in the area of wildlife nutrition and physiology as it related to ecological questions of wildlife populations and habitats. My initial work focused on white-tailed deer in south Texas. As my career has developed, I have moved into more habitat management work. This interest grew out of work on the effects of endophytic tall fescue on northern bobwhite quail and cottontail rabbits in Kentucky and the grassland environments they inhabit. Our initial work focused on converting tall fescue to native warm season grasses and has evolved into more grassland re-habilitation, restoration, and re-creation using herbicides. An offshoot of this has led to attempting to answer questions about how to control invasive plants with herbicides in natural areas. Current Research Projects Dormant
