International Society of Animal Genetics 2000 Workshop
Chair: Ernest Bailey, University of Kentucky, USA Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Date: July 23, 2000 Report of the ISAG Horse Genome Workshop Meeting (as submitted to the ISAG Executive Committee) The meeting convened at 1PM, Sunday July 23rd at the ISAG conference in Minneapolis. Approximately 100 people attended the workshop. Ernest Bailey chaired the meeting and presented a short report on the overall status of the horse genome map, the resources available to workshop participants and opportunities to join the workshop. Three formal presentations were made. June Swinburne of the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, United Kingdom, described the work leading the to recent publication of the genome map based on testing a full sibling family as well as opportunities for workshop participants to use this resource. Gérard Guérin of INRA, Jouy-en-Josas, France, described the status of the second phase of the workshop linkage map based on half sibling families and opportunities for its further use by workshop participants. Bhanu Chowdhary of Denmark described progress with the radiation hybrid map panel and opportunities for its use by workshop participants. An election was held for the chairperson to organize the ISAG workshop meeting in 2002. Matthew Binns of the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, United Kingdom, was elected and chaired the remainder of the meeting. Short, informal station reports were presented by Ann Bowling (California, USA), Gérard Guérin (France), T. Hasegawa (Japan), Loren Skow (Texas, USA) and Imke Tammen (Sydney, Australia).
