Caterpillar hosts plants:
woody and herbaceous legumes, including: black locust, Robinia; false indigo, Amorpha; honey locust, Gleditsia
Adult food: 
fruit, prefers blue, red, pink, and purple flowers, sometimes visits white and cream-colored flowers, never visits yellow flowers 
nectar of: butterfly weed and common milkweed,  Asclepias; honeysuckle, Lonicera; Joe-pye weed,  Eupatorium; red clover, Trifolium; thistles, Cirsium; zinnia, Zinnia
Habitat:
disturbed and open woods, foothill streamcourses
Notes: 
females lay single eggs near host trees, caterpillars must find proper host, hibernates as chrysalis, males perch to locate females, males occassionally patrol for females, puddles
