My position at UK is divided between the Horticulture Department and Cooperative Extension. My primary responsibility is to assist the Sustainable Agriculture Curriculum Committee to develop and launch an undergraduate major and minor in Sustainable Agriculture. The term "sustainable agriculture" refers to a holistic understanding of the environmental, economic, and social consequences of our food production and distribution choices. The goal of the Sustainable Agriculture program is to train agricultural producers and related professionals who preserve Kentucky's natural heritage by providing wholesome, nutritious food that supports families, communities, and the land. My prior experience includes service with the USDA, North Carolina Cooperative Extension, numerous farms, and the grassroots sustainable agriculture movement.
