I am a Natural Products Chemistry Professor. My research includes the
isolation and identification of volatile chemicals from food-borne bacterial pathogens which cause
human illness. Natural "marker" compounds from microorganisms such as E. coli 0157:H7 and
Salmonella will be used in an early warning system against these widespread dietary hazards.
