Tulip poplar

At one time, giant tulip poplar trees dominated the forests of Kentucky. Most of the giant 200 foot tall trees have been lost to logging, but tulip poplar is still one of the most common trees in Kentucky forests. It is currently the Official State Tree of Kentucky, as well as the State Tree of Indiana and Tennessee and at one time was the State Tree of Pennsylvania.
