Heads Up! Pest Alerts

Blue mold has been confirmed in Jessamine County/Fayette County as of June 21, 2000. A sample of freshly sporulating blue mold was collected by Dr. Gary Palmer and confirmed by Julie Beale, Diagnostician, by microscopic examination. Further assays are underway to determine fungicide sensitivity. This sample also involved significant angular leaf spot. Dr. William Nesmith has authorized a blue mold warning for Jessamine and Fayette counties, and a blue mold watch for Fort Harrod and Bluegrass extension areas. Blue mold watches are already in effect for Quicksand, Wilderness Trail and Northeast Kentucky extension areas. Dr. Nesmith will be scouting to determine western movement of the disease.
