Common Chickweed (Stellaria media)
| A weed that frequently occurs in alfalfa fields is common chickweed. It is a cool-season annual
broadleaf weed with cotyledons, or seed leaves, that are lanceolate in shape. The leaves, which are also oval with
pointed tips, form a dense canopy. Leaves are oppositely arranged on the stem, and both stems
and leaves are covered with bristly hairs. Chickweed may also be found in lawns, gardens,
woodlands and meadows as well as in cultivated fields. | |
