County
Landscape IPM Management Project
Educating homeowners on proper pesticide use and handling, as well as
alternative management practices for creating sustainable landscapes,
was the focus of Home Landscape Programs in Henderson County in 2000.
Information presented included
- developing a lawn management calendar,
- controlling landscape insects pests using plant phenological
indicators for targeting sprays,
- dealing with problem soils, and
- calibrating lawn spreaders.
The programs were attended by 95 people where 3/4 said they were planning
to implement a new technique or management practice based on the information
presented.
