The Kentucky IPM Program was a cosponsor of this youth-oriented tour demonstrating farm and household safety.
The Kentucky IPM Program is an active participant in the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Field Day held every other year at the University's Research and Education Center in Princeton, KY, USA. This is a popular event with area farmers; approximately 2,000 people attended the 1996 Field Day. Kentucky IPM and the Kentucky State University Small Farms Program co-sponsored a tour entitled "IPM for Home and Commercial Use" that emphasized insect control using IPM principles, demonstrated mulching with different materials, and included a composting demonstration.
Kentucky IPM also helped sponsor "The Safety Zone", a tour for youth about safety on the farm and around the home, including the safe use of chemicals. Demonstrations were presented by members of the Warren County Chapter of The Kentucky Partnership for Farm Family Health and Safety. Over 500 individuals attended the safety tour.
