Read * Reveal * Remediate:  Fourth Year Studio

In this project, students were asked to design a visionary urban space for the site currently occupied by Phoenix Park in downtown Lexington.  The design was to draw from the early natural and physical development history of the town's urban core.  The design was to reveal the interconnectedness of the area's natural infrastructure and urban development, and become the medium through which this relationship is engaged or understood.
The objectives of this project were to:  increase students' understanding of the cyclic relationship between natural processes that have contributed to the physical form of the city, and which in turn have been altered by it; develop an ability to read and reveal natural processes as determinants of urban form; develop design alternatives that integrate urban form with the functional integrity of natural systems.
