You may recognize this picture from earlier.
It is an example of a reclaimed railroad bed used for pathways on
the Monon Trail. The Monon
Trail is one of the 14 greenways within the 175 mile Indy Greenways
System located in Marion County, Indiana. This greenway system encompasses rivers, streams, old
railroad corridors and a 19th century canal towpath.
The Indy Greenways System links neighborhoods with 12,000 acres
of open spaces, parks, and conservation greenspaces.
This greenway is a prime example of the benefits a city can gain
after long hours of negotiation and compromises when city and citizens
work together. |
