Novel New Crops
Objectives:
To develop novel new crops and/or new cropping systems for farmers that contribute to the long-term sustainability of agriculture in Kentucky. This includes hops and edamame (green vegetable soybean).
Production of novel new crops will complement successful and sustainable cropping systems in Kentucky.
New cropping systems will be evaluated that result in a new market outlet for existing products.
To evaluate a high value potential new crop, chia - Salvia hispanica - for yield and seed quality characteristics.
