Traps are placed using one of 4 different trapping grids: 1X1,
1X4, Special Sites and Delimiting. A 1X1 grid is 1 trap per square
mile, a 1X4 grid is 1 trap per 4 square miles, Special Sites are
those areas that are considered high risk for importing gypsy moth
and delimiting is the use of multiple traps in one location where
moths were caught the previous year.
Slow the Spread Survey
Traps are placed on a 2km grid. Special Sites are placed in
areas considered high risk. Delimiting traps are placed on a 500 meter
grid. This program is a band that starts at the 10 moth trap line and
