Kentucky Certified Professional Turf Managers Workshop
The Kentucky Certified Professional Turf Managers Workshop is designed to promote the turf profession in Kentucky by advancing the knowledge of turf managers beyond their formal or informal turf training. The workshop is offered at two levels. Level 1 is designed for turf managers that are interested in understanding the basics of turf management from plant and pest identification to soils and fertilizers and many topics in between. Level 2 is aimed at the advance turf manager and focuses on diagnostics, mathematics, and professionalism. Level 1 is offered in winter of odd years and level 2 in winter of even years.
Several continuing education opportunities are offered through UK Turf each year. These courses are designed to provide practitioners with information relevant to their careers. Courses are taught by turfgrass professionals from across Kentucky and the surrounding states. Pesticide CEUs are provided by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture for all UK Turf events. See the calendar for upcoming events.
UK Turf and Landscape Short Course
The Short Course is offered each February and is held in Louisville. This two-day event offers educational sessions and pesticide continuing education credits for golf, sports, lawn care, and landscape professionals. A trade show accompanies the short course and offers the opportunity to interact with vendors. A one-day pesticide license training session is also offered prior to short course.
UK Turfgrass Field Day
The Turfgrass Field Day is offered each summer and showcases the current research as well as variety trials of turfgrasses important to Kentucky. During the afternoon, workshops are offered on topics such as calibrating sprayers and spreaders, turf and weed identification, and equipment maintenance.
