LIFE CYCLE: Summer annual; reproduces by seed and
roots at lower nodes of the stem; begins germination in mid-April or
early May; develops seed from July to September; dies in autumn. MAJOR
CHARACTERISTICS*: Stems are erect or arise from a creeping
base (A); small inconspicuous flowers produced in two rows along one
side of the 3 to 10 finger-like branches at the top of the stem (B).
LOCATION: Full sun, thin and/or closely mowed turf,
heavy traffic areas. |
