Livestock Marketing Information Center - Kentucky
Kentucky is one of 23 states participating in the Livestock Marketing Information Center. The Center, physically located in Denver, is a collaborative effort of Extension economists in participating states, the USDA, and other organizations such as the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, the National Pork Producers Council and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The purpose of the LMIC is to support state extension programs with current market analyses, strategies and data.
The goal of the LMIC - Kentucky is to serve the states' livestock industry by providing the data and analyses necessary for effective decisions. The LMIC-Ky has several parts and changes with client requests. One is an archive of Kentucky data. This is a data base of weekly Kentucky livestock prices collected by the Ky. Dept. of Agriculture and USDA Market News Service, starting in 1993. Another is analyses of the data.
Products available from the LMIC-Ky (either Kentucky or Colorado location) are:
- Tables and graphs of Kentucky and national livestock price information
- Futures basis charts
- Seasonal price indices
- the Livestock Monitor - a bi-weekly update of national production and price data.
