Heat and drought can take its toll on your garden. Rick Durham will discuss gardening practices and plantings that will bring new life to the summer garden.

Monthly Hike: Insect Safari with Blake Newton (all ages)
Put on your safari hat and join entomologist Blake Newton for a morning hike in search of insects! Beetles, bees, or butterflies. Who knows what you might find? Hike begins at the Visitor Center and lasts 60-90 minutes. Cost: $1

Colors from Nature: Introduction to Natural Dyeing
Instructor: Roberta Burnes, Arboretum Education Coordinator
Learn how to capture a rainbow of color from plants. We-ll explore the gardens in search of dye plants and then create several dye baths to color wool yarn. You-ll go home with samples of several different colors of yarn. Please pre-register.

Bring the whole family and enjoy an evening of stargazing and telescope viewing of the Moon, Jupiter, and more with the Bluegrass Amateur Astronomy Club. (If skies are cloudy, this event will be canceled.) Free.
