Rosebud Wreath Workshop (Adults)
February 1 at 10 a.m.-12 noon
Get ready for Valentine's Day by crafting a beautiful, fragrant wreath of dried rosebuds. This wreath would make a lovely gift for someone special. Cost: $15 ($12 for Friends). Please pre-register.


Monthly Hike (Adults and Families age 9 & up)
Third Saturday of every month at 10 a.m.

Explore the many faces of the Arboretum through the seasons. Join us on the third Saturday of each month for our featured hike. Hikes last 60 to 90 minutes and start at the Visitor Center. Cost: $1

February's Hike: Winter Tree Identification
Rob Paratley, Curator of the U.K Herbarium.
Join Rob for a brisk winter walk to the Arboretum Woods. You'll learn to read the subtle signs of buds, twigs, and bark to identify trees without their leaves.

The Growing Gardener

A Six-Week Educational Series for the beginning gardener! Register for the whole series and receive a $5 discount. Individual classes are $5 each or $25 for all six classes. Please pre-register.

Water Gardening

Saturday, February 4 at 1-3 p.m.
Instructor: Rob Roberts, Owner of Roberts Landscaping in Campbellsville, KY.
A water garden can be a magical addition to any yard. From a simple pool or pond to an elaborate waterfall, Rob Roberts will discuss the basics of good design to make your water garden a success. He'll use slides to detail the construction step by step. Afterward, you'll walk out to the Arboretum's water garden (one of Rob's creations) and examine its design and construction.

Proper Pruning

Saturday, February 11 at 1-3 p.m.
Instructor: Susan Capley, Arboretum Horticulturalist
To prune or not to prune? Susan Capley will discuss the tools, techniques, and timing for proper pruning of woody plants. Bring gloves and pruning shears for hands-on practice in the Demonstration Garden.

The Top 20 Annuals and Perennials

Tuesday, February 28 at 7-8 p.m.
Instructor: Bob Anderson, U.K. Extension Horticulture Specialist
Trying to make sense of all of those plant catalogues you get every winter? Bob Anderson will share pictures and tips on some of the best annuals and perennials for the home landscape. Learn how to choose the right plant for the right site in your garden!

Junior Master Gardener (Ages 8-11)

Thursdays, January 19-March 9 (eight weeks)
Do you know a young person who loves to play in the dirt? Junior Master Gardener (JMG) might be just the ticket! Modeled after the popular Master Gardener program, JMG offers kids creative learning opportunities in gardening and environmental education, leadership, and life skills. Students who attend at least six sessions, complete assigned projects and volunteer service hours will receive a nationally recognized certification as a Junior Master Gardener. Class fee includes handbook, snack, materials, and t-shirt. Space is limited and pre-registration is required, so call 257-9339 to sign up for this exciting program!

Young Naturalist Series

Animal Tracks and Tracking (Ages 6-8)
Tuesday, February 7 at 3:30-5 p.m.
All animals leave tracks. In this class you'll learn how to identify the tracks of common mammals and birds that live in Kentucky. You'll also cast realistic copies of tracks to keep. Dress for a possible excursion outdoors to search for tracks in the Arboretum. Please pre-register.

Winter Survival (Ages 6-8)
Tuesday, February 21 at 3:30-5 p.m.
Come explore the amazing adaptations used by plants and animals for surviving the cold of winter. We'll go on a scavenger hunt to search for clues and play a fun game of winter survival. Dress in layers for indoor and outdoor play! Please pre-register.
