Dr. Lynda Brown Wright
is an associate professor in the Department of Educational and
Counseling Psychology. She received a bachelor of arts degree
in Psychology from Grambling State University and a masters and
educational specialist degrees in educational and school psychology
from the State University of New York at Albany. She received
a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A & M University.
In 1996, Dr. Wright was one of five national
recipients of a 5-year National Institute of Health (NIH) Research
Career Development award in the heart area, funded by the heart,
lung and blood division. This award supports her study of psychosocial
and chronic environmental stress factors related to the cardiovascular
health of African American children and youth. Her work in this
area has been published in leading refereed journals and presented
at numerous state, national, and international conferences.
