Graduate Anthropology Program:The University of Kentucky Department of Anthropology is devoted to a holistic approach to the pursuit and application of anthropological knowledge. Our graduate training emphasizes ethnographic, theoretical and applied research ranging in time from the peopling of the Americas to contemporary social issues. The department offers courses in three of the subdisciplines of anthropology: archaeology, sociocultural, and biocultural, with a strong focus in both applied and basic research. Students working in or across these sub-disciplines may concentrate their studies on any of the following cross-cutting themes, or explore the interconnections among them:
