The Oligocene Epoch

The Oligocene Epoch took place 40 MA years ago and lasted 14 MA. This was the time of a more advanced ZOO, with the appearance of more apes, camels, cats, dogs, elephants, rhinos and rodents. The early horse dates to this epoch, though Keeneland would have had to modify their track! The huge rhino-type mammals disappeared near the end of this time.
