Margaret Isadora King
1 September 1879 - 13 April 1966
Margaret Isadora King was born in
Lexington, Kentucky
in 1879 and graduated from the
University of Kentucky
in 1898. She was secretary to
James Patterson,
president of the University, and became the University's first
librarian in 1912, retaining that position until her retirement
in 1949. She died in 1966 and was buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
The
King Library
at the University of Kentucky was named in her honor.
