Benjamin Henry Latrobe
1764 - 1820

Benjamin Henry Latrobe was born and educated in England and became one of the first architects practicing in America. He designed the Pope Villa in Lexington, Kentucky in 1810-1811.

His journals have been published in several editions and include many fascinating sketches and observations, including the "Farewell to the Sweets of Kentucky."
