If you are using a computer on campus at a UK computing lab, then the computer should meet the reccomended requirements. If you are unsure, check with the consultant on duty.
If you are using a personal computer or other computer located off-campus, you need to know your computer's hardware and software setup. If you do not know your computer's setup, first follow these directions to find the necessary information. Write the information down for future reference.

Many online courses use browser plugins. Plugins are small, free applications that allow your web browser to do more things, such as play animations or movies. Here is a list of common plugins used in online courses, and links to the download site for each (links open in a new window). Check with your instructor to see if you need any of these plugins.
