During 2012, the University of Kentucky will host the nationally acclaimed "CIO Practicum" series. In this very unique and distinctive setting at the University's Boone Center, senior IT leaders from the region will come together in an ongoing forum to learn from noted thought leaders, share their related experiences and insights, as well as both collectively and collaboratively address common issues. Renowned futurist and wickedly smart and overly energetic Thornton May, who had graciously ignited this series in prior years, will be kick-starting the series with us again this year.
As most senior leaders would agree a great deal of insight, foresight, and periodic heroic efforts are required for success in IT. There are indeed many opportunities for real "IT value heroism" in today's higher education and corporate world. Are there heroes and heroines at work within your own organization inside or outside of IT? Are you seen as one of them? As we look into our immediate future, several areas offering opportunity for IT leaders stand out. Yet, in these areas many organizations still remain woefully unprepared. Some examples include: Process Improvement Attendees of the Kentucky CIO Practicum will collaboratively explore these issues, share ideas, and develop personal relationships across industries.
